Sculptra works subtly and gradually over time by stimulating your own collagen production and helps to restore loss of facial volume due to aging.
A collagen stimulator, made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), Sculptra® is different from dermal fillers because of its ability to gradually diminish the facial wrinkles and restore the deep, underlying structures of the skin. As the microparticles of Sculptra® are absorbed into the tissue, they help stimulate collagen production for a long-lasting youthful-looking appearance.
How is It Performed?
Sculptra® injection is a simple and safe procedure that doesn’t last more than 15 minutes. Prior to the procedure, the doctor applies a topical numbing cream and then injects a numbing agent to provide maximal comfort and minimize bruising. Using a fine needle, Sculptra® is injected into the desired areas of the face. The results are not immediate, and they appear gradually over the treatment regime, and can last up to two years.
A series of two or three treatment sessions over the course of a few months may be needed, until the results are satisfying. The number of injections at each session will vary, depending on the desired effects and the degree of correction needed.
- Corrects shallow to deep wrinkles and folds on the face.
- Used for deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds or “smile lines”), lines framing the mouth (marionette lines), chin wrinkles, and for volume in the cheeks.
- Gradually produces own collagen for a long lasting effect over 6 weeks to 6 months.
- Clinically proven to show results for up to 2 years.
